'Cats End the Weekend on a 3rd Period Flurry
Bobcats began weekend play in the face of adversity against Newark Generals.  The 'Cats gained the lead early in period one with a goal from Senior, Kevin Deal.  Newark scored 2 goals later in the period to gain the advantage. Period 2 remained scoreless as the defense held their ground with Chris Corrigan, Wes Gilkey & Andrew Newton only allowing 2 shots on Athens Goalie, Jake Bloomfield (20 Saves.)  Joel Chalfant scored a mere eleven seconds into the last period with the assist from Henry Smith to tie the contest.  Unfortunately, Newark scored a few seconds later to take the lead and the win, 3-2.  Play was stopped and the game ended with 1:28 remaining on the clock due to Newark's "game curfew."

Saturday was a much better night for Athens in "Battle of the 'Cats" as they faced Hilliard Wildcats for the second time this season.  Athens was on an offensive rush early with all their goals, 3 to be exact, occurring in the first period of play.  Goals were scored by James Ervin, Kevin Deal & Tanner Wood with assists from Ryan Donnelly, Andrew Newton & Will Angelos.  Alex Monterosso only allowed 1 goal out of 21 shots with a 95% save percentage and another win for Athens. The battle ended with Bobcats on top 3-1!

Dispatch Ice Haus staged the last game of the weekend.  The 'Cats were looking a little flat as the Prowlers scored 2 goals in period one and another in period 3 putting Athens down 3-0.  The "Comeback 'Cats" showed up to play with 4:42 remaining in the game as Kevin Deal scored on a power play with help from Henry Smith and Chris Corrigan.  Less than a 1:30 later, Deal was at it again with help from Smith to close the gap with another goal.  With 1:43 on the clock, Coach Caesar pulled goalie, Jake Bloomfield, hoping for a tie.  Prowlers almost scored on an empty net but the shot was blocked by defenseman, Chris Corrigan, and Athens tied the game as Deal (assisted by Joel Chalfant) sniped his third goal of the night for his first hat trick of the season.  Athens begins next weekend's play back at the Ice Haus on Friday night.
