Ohio University to Host Youth Sports Coaching Symposium
On April 2, Ohio University will host a symposium on coaching all youth sports, with keynote speaker Tom Farrey of ESPN. Registration is only $10 and includes classroom sessions, field sessions, and lunch.

This year’s symposium will focus specifically on youth sports, with keynote speaker, Tom
Farrey from ESPN. Mr. Farrey is the executive director of the Aspen Institute Sports and Society
Program and the author of Game On: The All-American Race to Make Champions of Our Children.
What topics will the coaching symposium address?
Targeting the current issues within youth sports, expanding the knowledge of these issues and identifying solutions to these issues
Introducing new and creative coaching strategies
Providing teaching tools for coaches to utilize
Assisting in the understanding of youth strength and motor development
An insight into sports psychology
Providing age appropriate practice plans and ideas
Assisting in the development and implementation of a safe sports environment
Identifying the role of parents, athletes and coaches within sports
The cost of the symposium is $10 and this includes: 6 morning presentations, lunch with the keynote
speaker, 3 afternoon field sessions and a question and answer session.
