AYHA Squirts

Squirts are players birth year 2004 and 2005. AYHA has two Squirt teams that practice together (see Squirts (All) for the practice schedule) but have separate game schedules. Squirts practice twice weekly, and play games about three weekends per month.  The Squirts play in the Midwest Youth Hockey League, and are divided into upper and lower division teams based on age and skill. About half of the games are at home at Bird Arena; travel is to Columbus, Newark, Cincinnati, and Dayton, OH and Charleston, WV. Players continue to build individual skating and hockey skills, but the emphasis on passing and position increases.  Games are played on the full sheet of ice. No body checking is permitted.  Beginners are welcome at the Squirt level, and are encouraged to enroll in Learn to Play Hockey and AYHA concurrently.  For information about Squirt play, contact Valerie Young, Registrar.
