AYHA 2024-2025 Season Registration Now Open!
Registration for the 2024/2025 season is still open for 8U, 10U, 12U, and High School teams (14U team registration has closed).  Due to BTHL rule changes, all players eligible for 10U and 12U must register by Aug 30 to play in the Sept 14/15 Seeding Tournament AND be guaranteed to play in the regular season. Click Read More for details on the BTHL rules, AYHA registration, and High School changes.

In addition to the information below, please look for more 2024-2025 season and registration details on the website under the Season Info drop down menu.

14U TEAM UPDATE: AUGUST 31, 2024 - As of August 29, the AYHA 14U Travel Team has reached its maximum size for a single team roster.  At this time, the AYHA does not anticipate having a sufficient number of new 14U registrations to be able to form two competitive teams, and the decision has been made to close 14U registration.  If you would still like to inquire about the 14U team, please contact any of the AYHA Board of Directors or Registrar for more information.

CRITICAL BTHL POLICY CHANGE IMPACTING 10U, 12U, & 14U PLAYERS

All hockey associations must submit an official online USA Hockey roster for each of their teams to the BTHL no later than September 13.  Players who are not on the USA Hockey roster for their team by this date will not be permitted to play in the seeding tournament September 14 & 15.

All 10U, 12U, and 14U youth players are impacted by this BTHL policy change.  Because it can take up to two weeks or more for the official USA Hockey roster to update online after a player registers with USA Hockey for the 2024-2025 season, the AYHA strenuously recommends all of our BTHL youth players register with USA Hockey and AYHA no later than August 30, and preferably earlier (players must be registered with both USA Hockey and AYHA to be on the official roster).  If your youth player is not on the USA Hockey roster submitted to the BTHL, he or she will not be permitted to play in the seeding tournament - no exceptions.

Furthermore, players who are not on the USA Hockey roster by September 13 will only be permitted to join their team for BTHL regular and post-season games after a review and approval by the BTHL.
This policy change is to address potential "sandbagging", where teams deliberately play below their actual ability during the seeding tournament to get placed in a lower division, and then intentionally accept more skilled players to their rosters before the December 31 roster freeze deadline in order to more easily win their regular season division.

Even if your youth player cannot participate in the seeding tournament in September due to a prior commitment elsewhere, please register with USA Hockey and AYHA before August 30 so your player does not have to be submitted to the BTHL later on for review and approval to join their team. There is no guarantee that the BTHL will approve individual player additions to an AYHA team after the September 13 deadline, especially if the BTHL feels the additional player or players significantly increase their team's competitiveness above the other teams in their assigned age and skill division.

Coaches must also have their USA Hockey registration number submitted to the Registrar, completed a background check, completed Safesport, and completed their age-specific modules prior to August 30 as well.  If you are not listed on the USA Hockey roster as a coach with your team and you have not completed the minimum requirements, you will not be permitted to participate in the Seeding Tournament.

All teams participating in the seeding tournament must have at least 10 skaters and 1 goalie, so please try to pencil in that weekend participate in the seeding tournament if at all possible.

2024-2025 AYHA REGISTRATION (ALL AGE DIVISIONS)
AYHA registration is now open, and step by step instructions are provided on the Registration page under the Season Info drop down menu.  Once again this season, early registration allows families to take advantage of extended payment plan options.  If you register by July 1, families have the option to have the AYHA registration fee be divided in 9 monthly installments, 8 monthly installments if you register by August 1, (9- and 8-month payment plans have expired) and 6 monthly installments if you register by October 1st.   The final monthly installment is billed March 1 of 2025 for all of the above options.

Families that register by July 31 will also not be required to submit the $50 deposit ($50 deposits required after July 31).  If you have more than one youth player registering this season, the AYHA is once again offering a multi-player discount, which you can select during the registration process.  Additionally, if this is the first full year of your youth player's participation in the AYHA, you can also select a 50% season discount during registration.  Please note that each youth player must have a unique USA Hockey number before registering with the AYHA, and the USA Hockey member registration website for players, coaches, referees, and volunteers is now open.

Primarily due to Ohio University raising costs to rent ice for practices and games, Association registration fees have been increased this season.  The AYHA has attempted to keep them as low as possible, and the Association is planning robust 8U and 10U tournaments as well as other fundraising opportunities to offset costs as much as possible for upcoming seasons.

If you have any past due amounts in Active from prior seasons, those amounts must be paid in full before your youth player(s) can register for the 2024-2025 season.  If you have any questions about past due amounts, please contact AYHA Registrar, Amanda McCumber, at [email protected].

14U REGISTRATION INFORMATION - Registration Closed for the Season
Youth players who will be entering the 8th grade for the 2024-2025 season will be placed on the 14U BTHL Travel Team.  However, those youth players who are entering 9th grade for the 2024-2025 season are eligible to register to participate on either the 14U BTHL Team or the High School Team.  9th grade youth players who want to participate on the AYHA High School team will register for the 2024-2025 OSHL Varsity Silver Division (see the High School Registration Information below).

For the 2024-2025 season, it is anticipated that there may be more 14U-eligible players than can be placed on a USA Hockey maximum 20-person roster for games.  However, it is also anticipated there will not be enough players to establish two separate 14U teams that have sufficient numbers of players to be competitive during the season.  In the event there are more than 20 registrants, second year 14U youth players who are eligible for the OSHL High School team may be moved up to the High School team by the AYHA Board of Directors, after consultation with the Director of Hockey and high school coaching staff.  Additionally, double rostering on both the 14U and High School team will not be permitted this season.

If there are still more than 20 youth players registered for the 14U team after second year 14U players have moved up to the High School team, placement of any individual 14U player on the team roster for games is not guaranteed, and the decision of which players will be on the final USA Hockey roster will be decided by the AYHA Board of Directors after consultation with the Director of Hockey and the 14U coaching staff.  This 2024-2025 season policy ensures the greatest possibility for all youth players to be on a team roster, while maintaining a fair process for team selection.

HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION INFORMATION
All players currently enrolled in high school (9th grade or higher) are eligible to register for the High School team. For the 2024-2025 season, high school players will participate in the OSHL Varsity Silver Division, which is a new middle OSHL division for teams that in the past have been too highly skilled for JV competition, but also for teams that have not been skilled enough to compete against stronger Varsity teams.   Due to the anticipated number of 14U player registrations for the 2024-2025 season, 9th grade high school players will not be permitted to double roster on both the high school and 14U teams; they will be required to play on the high school team only.  High school players that will be turning 18 in 2024 or 2025 during the season are required to complete Safesport through USA Hockey prior to the start of the season.

Thank you for your continued support of youth hockey in Southeast Ohio, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon.
