SEVEN in a Row!
Submitted By cbarga on Monday, December 13, 2010
Your AYHA Squirts were back in action on Sunday, December 12. The Squirts were riding a 5 game winning streak when the Easton Rangers came to Bird Arena for a Sunday doubleheader. From the outset the Squirts dominated an outmanned Easton team.

To show you how dominate the Squirts were, the Rangers only managed 3 shots on goal in the first game and 2 shots in the second game. The defense of Chase Sammons, Finn Mitchell, Nicholas Barga and Max Cook was suffocating, leting the puck into the defensive zone rarely. On offense, the Squirts found some new scoring options. Anthony Koping registered his first hat trick and Kade Lightner notched his first goal in the first game. The first game also displayed Jackson Kohn's offensive development as he scored 1 goal and had 2 assists. In the end, the Squirts prevailed 6-0 with Teagan Ried getting her second shutout.

The second game was much the same, with the Squirts winning 8-0, with Anthony Koping getting his first shutout. The second game showed the Squirt's balanced attack on offensive with seven players getting a goal. Evan Adams lead the way with two goals. Ethan Zatta scored his first goal as an Athens Squirt after spending his formative years in the Pittsburgh leagues. Jackson Kohn continued his offensive explosion getting his second goal of the day. Henry Welsh did not find the net, but he chipped in with two timely assists.

Upcoming games this weekend is a rematch with the Newark Generals on Saturday night at 5:30 and 8:05 at Bird Arena. Will the Squirts be able to avenge their only loss of the season. On Sunday, the Squirts will take on the CAHA Stars at 9:00 and 12:00 at Bird Arena.

If you haven't yet, come see the Squirts in action.
