Bobcats Finish Weekend 1-1-1
Submitted By Stephanie Wood on Tuesday, November 10, 2009
Bobcats had a busy weekend with four games on the schedule.  Friday night's action saw the 'Cats faceoff against Hilliard. Late into the second period, Hilliard was up 2-0.  Kevin Deal, shooting from the blue line, scored the first Athens goal of the game assisted by Henry Smith and Andrew Newton. With 9:12 remaining in the game, defenseman, Newton put the puck in the net from the blue line to score and tie the game with Jake Schriner and Smith assisting.  Goaltender, Alex Monterosso, held strong in the net with 19 saves.

The Bobcats played on home ice at Bird Arena for game two of the weekend facing Newark Generals.  Jacob Schriner and Alex Gates (assisted by Nick Fischer) scored the first two goals of the game moving the 'Cats on top 2-1.  With seconds remaining Newark pulled their goalie hoping for a tie, but Chris Corrigan sealed their fate with an empty net goal to win 3-1.  Having 25 saves, Jake Bloomfield got the job done between the pipes and added a win for the Bobcats.

Sunday morning proved to be a challenge from the beginning as the 'Cats were ready to play but the same couldn't be said for the ice.  Bird Arena was dealing with compressor issues as the ice was quickly melting and hindering any chance of playing at all.  With the problem resolved, the Bobcats were able to play 1 of the 2 games scheduled against Dayton Bombers and didn't fare as well as they would have liked.  Kevin Deal had an awesome breakaway goal but the 'Cats couldn't hold on losing 1-4.

The 'Cats are back on the road for a Thursday night game against Newark at Lou & Gib Reese Arena looking forward to another victory against the Generals.
