PeeWee Registration and Practice
PeeWee registration is for players birth years 2001 and 2002.  PeeWee practice is typically Mondays and Thursdays at about 6:30 or 7:30.  Consult the online schedule; practice times vary to take advantage of seasonal changes in the Bird Arena programming schedule.

The PeeWees (birth years 2001 and 2002) play full-ice games.  Body-checking is not permitted in games, but formal instruction in proper play with body checking begins in practice.  PeeWees develop skating and hockey skills as well as positioning and team strategy.  A commitment to learning hockey is expected, regardless of the player's skill level.  Novice players who are enthusiastic and committed succeed when they start at the PeeWee level.  PeeWees (birth years 2001 and 2002) sometimes share practice ice with the Squirts (birth years 2003 and 2004).  During shared-ice practices, at the discretion of the coaches, Squirt and PeeWee players may be mixed in appropriate developmental groups.

In addition to home games at Bird Arena, the PeeWee schedule typically includes away games in Ohio (Columbus, Newark, Cincinnati, Dayton),  in Charleston, WV, in northern Kentucky (Cincinnati-area), and in Indiana (Evansville, Indianapolis).

PeeWee players may also schedule one-on-one hockey instruction with Bird Arena.  Instructors are typically Ohio University D1 and D2 players. Private hockey instruction takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays between 4:15 and 5:00. Contact Bird Arena for more information.
