Athens Squirts Tame the Wild
On Sunday, November 28, the Athens Squirts traveled to South Charleston to take on the West Virginia Wild for two games. The Squirts continued on their hot streak with two high scoring wins. The first games was 10-5 and the second game was 7-1.

The first game saw 5 players score goals with Nicholas Barga and Chase Sammons each collecting a hat trick. Finn Mitchell was not far behind with 2 goals. Also finding the net were Anthony Koping and Evan Adams. Both getting their first goals of the season. Even though Max Cook did not get a goal this weekend, he led the team with two assists in the first game. Teagan Ries was stellar in the net as usual. She faced 28 shots and only allowed 5 goals. After two games, Teagan has an 86% save average.

The second game saw the Squirts continuing to find the net on the offensive end. Just like the first game, 5 players scored goals, but no hat tricks. Chase Sammons and Finn Mitchell each scored 2 goals. Evan Adams, Nicholas Barga and Jackson Kohn, each added a single goal. This was Jackson's first goal of the season. Jaden Patterson and Teagan Ries also got their first points of the season. Teagan had 2 assists and Jaden had 1 assist. Anthony Koping manned the goal for the second game. Anthony had a shutout going until 44 seconds left in the game when the Wild were able to sneak one in the net. Anthony was not test much during the game, only facing 4 shots. This lack of shots on goal was attributed to the hard skating and poke checking by the entire team, including Ethan Zatta, Caleb Workman, Dominic Norris and Kade Lightner. Even though Ethan and Caleb did  not reach the scorebook on offense, they did make it to the scoresheet on defense. Each getting their first penalties of the season.  Hey, whatever it takes to get in the scorebook.

After two weekends of action the Squirts are riding a 3 game winning streak. Let's go find some more victims!
