AYHA's Mite Midwinter House League is an opportunity for 8U ice hockey players of all skill levels to try team ice hockey with no obligation for travel or tournaments.  The league operates during the Ohio University winter break, between sessions of Bird Arena's Learn-to-Play-Hockey program.  Players enrolled in Mite Midwinter House League will be combined with players from AYHA's Mite and Mini-Mite programs to form parity teams for games.

What's Included?
Six weeks of practice Mondays and Wednesdays 5:15 - 6:05 pm at Bird Arena with the AYHA Mini-Mites and Mites
Six weekend games at Bird Arena (Dec 17 9:30 & 10:45 am; Jan 7 8:30 & 9:45 am; Jan 21 10:15 & 11:30 am)
Loan of Learn-to-Play-Hockey gear
An Athens Youth Hockey Association / Columbus Bluejackets jersey to keep

$130 plus registration with USA Hockey (free for birth years 2010 and younger, $45 for older players)
USA Hockey registration is required. Your USA Hockey registration is good until August 2017 for hockey programs nationwide.

Is My Player Ready?
If your player can skate forwards and backwards while holding a stick, then your player is ready. No, they don't need to be speed demons; they will be fine if they can move in both directions. One session of Learn-to-Play-Hockey or Learn-to-Skate provides enough background, but prior participation in Learn-to is not required.

What if My Player Loves This?
Won't it be great if your player falls in love with a game that provides exercise throughout the winter months? For an additional $100, your player can join the AYHA Mites for the remainder of the 16-17 season.
