
The Athens Youth Hockey Association is pleased to announce the 2023 Veteran's Day 10U Travel Tournament November 10, 11, and 12 at Ohio University's Bird Ice Arena in Athens, Ohio. A tentative, detailed schedule for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the tournament will be available on this webpage later this summer.

The goal is appropriate competitive balance and a quality experience for all teams. This is not easy to achieve at 10U, but we will do our best to make good matches.
Priority for participation assigned in order that deposits are postmarked.
TENTATIVE 10U TOURNAMENT RULES
A USA Hockey team roster will be required for each team prior to the start of games. If a player is not on the roster, that player cannot play!
The goal is competitive balance and a quality hockey experience for all players.
Each team must provide a penalty box monitor and a score sheet official for their games.
Games will be played on full-ice with USA Hockey certified officials.
Games consist of three 12-minute periods. A running clock may be used at the discretion of the organizers to keep the tournament on-time.
Games may begin as much as 10 minutes earlier than scheduled.
Minor penalties are 90 seconds. Major penalties are 5 minutes. Misconducts are 10 minutes.
No overtime for games. A point system will be used as follows to rank teams for the final games.
• One point for winning a period (in case of tie: 1/2 point awarded to each team)
• Two points for winning a game (in case of tie: one point awarded to each team.)
• Teams ranked according to total points earned in preliminary rounds
Point ties will be broken in this order:
• Win/loss record
• Head-to-head
• Number of periods won
• Fewest goals against
• Least penalty minutes
• First team to score in head-to-head game
• Coin toss
If the Championship or Consolation game ends in a tie:
• 3 player shootout until tie is broken (no repeat shooters until all players take a turn)
The referees, tournament and rink management reserve the right to remove anyone from the rink
for abusive behavior. The USA Hockey zero tolerance policy will be strictly enforced!
The coach or manager should check in with tournament director at least 45 minutes before the
team’s first game and arrive at least 30 minutes before the remaining games.
All players and coaches must be registered and rostered with USA Hockey.
The Athens Youth Hockey Association, Bird Ice Arena, Ohio University and the Tournament Directors and committee shall not be held responsible for any damages and/or injuries during this tournament.
The goal is a positive hockey experience for all. We do our best to group teams for good competitive balance, based on the information that coaches provide. Requests to obtain or avoid particular opponents cannot be honored.
