With the support of the Columbus Blue Jackets, the AYHA is pleased to once again sponsor a Fall 2024 Learn to Play Hockey session for children ages 5 to 10 years old at Ohio University's Bird Ice Arena. Learn to Play is an introductory session that allows children with no prior skating experience to build confidence on the ice and have fun. Sessions begin in October, and registration is now open! Additionally, OU Learn to Skate registration is now open!
This introductory Learn to Play Hockey session will include AYHA coaches and Ohio University hockey players teaching the fundamentals of ice skating and beginning hockey in a fun and supportive environment. Children will be introduced to forward and backwards skating, stopping, and hockey games, creating an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Registration closes October 15th, but the class typically fills up well before then. Classes will be held every Tuesday evening at Bird Ice Arena starting October 22nd from 6:00pm to 6:45pm for eight weeks (not including Thanksgiving week). The $135 registration fee provides not only ice time, but also hockey equipment from head-to-toe including skates, protective pads, helmet, and a jersey.
If your child has already participated in a Learn to Play Hockey session, we respectfully request that you refrain from registering again so other local children can participate.
