Nicholas James Stachler Memorial Skate
Submitted By Valerie Young on Thursday, March 27, 2014
A drop-in style ice hockey game will be held on Saturday March 29, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bird Arena to honor Nick Stachler and to raise funds for a scholarship in his name for an AYHA player.  Whether you're ready to play or you just want to support the cause, please come out.  Gate charge is $10 per person, with all proceeds going to the scholarship. If you can't make it to the Skate, you can donate via Give Forward.

Nick Stachler was a 2002 graduate of Athens High School and an Athens Youth Hockey Association player all the way through high school. After high school, Sgt Nicholas Stachler served three tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom with US Army Alpha Company, 325th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg, NC.  Nick passed away in March 2014.

To honor Nick's memory and his love of hockey, his AYHA teammates Phil Oberlin and Nick Dioguardi, with the approval of the Stachler family, have organized this Memorial Skate for Saturday March 29, 2014 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Bird Arena to raise funds for a scholarship for an AYHA player.  If you are unable to attend, but would like to make a donation, please contact Phil Oberlin at [email protected]
