Jersey Raffle is a Win!
Submitted By Valerie Young on Thursday, January 23, 2014
If you’re one of the Bird Arena faithful, then you probably saw the #28 black Ohio Bobcats jersey at home games this season, carried by a dedicated AYHA volunteer.  As part of the terrific partnership between AYHA and Ohio Bobcats Hockey, the Ohio University team donated the black jersey and let us sell raffle tickets during their home games. Former Ohio University coach Dan Morris drew the winning ticket during the second period of Saturday’s game against Iowa State, on Alumni Weekend.

The lucky jersey winner is Ashley Gilkerson, an Ohio University student.  When you see Ashley wearing her awesome #28 black jersey at a Bobcats home game, be sure to thank her for her support of the Athens Youth Hockey Association and Ohio Bobcats Hockey.

AYHA raised $1160 through the jersey raffle.  Fundraising supports playerships and the purchase of new equipment, and helps keep ice hockey affordable for all of our families. Thank you to everyone who bought or sold raffle tickets, and thank you to Ohio University current head coach Jon Sheridan and former head coach Dan Morris for supporting AYHA with the jersey donation.
