09-10 Varsity - Midget - Athens Varsity Ends 2009 on a High Note
Submitted By Stephanie Wood on Sunday, December 27, 2009
It’s been a busy season so far for the Athens Varsity Bobcats with 33 games played to date this season and finishing the 2009 year with a winning record of 17-11-5.  The ‘Cats are proving to be fierce opponents as they stand strong in 2nd place overall in the Greater Columbus High School Club Hockey League, only one point out of 1st.  In recent Buckeye Travel Hockey League play where the Bobcats compete in the Midget AA Division, the ‘Cats posted a 2-2-1 record in their last five games.   The last event of the 2009 year for the Varsity ‘Cats is the traditional “lock-in” scheduled for December 30th.  Upon completion of practice that evening the team will enjoy good food, ice to skate all night and a hard floor to sleep on, or not, in Bird Arena’s mezzanine.  As the ‘Cats enter into the 2010 portion of their season,  they look forward to play against GCHSCHL’s top ranked Hilliard Wildcats and BTHL’s Louisville Stallions.
